Help with the RXV2 app for LockDownRadioControl.
How to get help
Write to mmessiter@gmail.com. I read everything and I answer.
- Say which helicopter and flight controller you have, what the app showed you, and what you expected instead.
- Best of all: open the Event log page in the app and tap Send debug data to Malcolm. It gathers what the receiver and the app did, with no passwords.
- Quote the version number at the foot of every page.
You need a receiver or a dongle
The app is a companion to LockDownRadioControl hardware. It needs a Version 2 receiver or a Rotorflight dongle to do anything useful. Without one, tap Demos: every page works against a simulated helicopter, so you can see what it does before building anything.
The hardware is not sold. It is an open project: the designs, the software and the apps are all free, and you build your own. Start at Build one, or the Rotorflight pages.
Common questions
The app cannot find my receiver
- Check the receiver has power, and stand within a few metres. The app tells you when the signal is too weak.
- Bluetooth must be on in your phone's settings.
- A receiver talks to one phone at a time. Close the app on any other phone or tablet (or the Rotorflight menu on a Version 2 transmitter).
- Still not found? Switch the transmitter off, then switch the receiver off and on. With no transmitter, the receiver keeps Bluetooth on.
- When the model is armed, the receiver switches Bluetooth off. Disarm.
Readings show as dashes, or a page will not load
The flight controller may be asleep, or the receiver's lead unplugged. Power the model off and on, and check the lead into the flight controller.
Can I use it without a computer?
Yes. That is the point of the project. With the receiver's lead and a short USB-C data cable to the flight controller, the app does almost everything the Rotorflight Configurator does. Only flashing Rotorflight itself needs a computer.
Is it really free?
Yes. The app is free, the software is free, and the source is free software under the GNU GPL. See the source page.
